at this time in my life when I feel myself physically and mentally fading, I also see clarity that I had as a child--pure and simple--I love God and God loves me. I hope that as I continue in this fourth quarter of my life, as my body and mind continue to fade, that this clarity of love becomes only clearer.

forgiving myself

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen. "... forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us..." Does God expect us to forgive ourselves for our trespasses?  Did the prodigal son forgive himself for his trespasses? It seems to me that he may have since he joined the party that his father gave for him. Did Peter forgive himself for denying Jesus three times?  Did Judas forgive himself for betraying Jesus? Apparently not. Did Paul forgive himself for persecuting Christians? Paul's writings tell me that he did. Does God expect us to forgive ourselves for our trespasses? I think that He does.
